Don’t Drive Drowsy Foundation Scholarship
Our 2026 Scholarship Recipient
Quinton J. Smith
Quinton is a multidisciplinary student leader whose work spans research, service, and community impact. His nationally-recognized solar research explores how to improve energy technologies beyond Earth’s atmosphere, reflecting a broader commitment to innovation that is both practical and forward‐looking. In the classroom and in competition, he brings the same steady focus, earning international distinction in Model UN, serving as a state‐level STEM captain, and contributing to a nationally ranked Quizbowl team.
Much of Quinton’s leadership centers on helping others succeed. He has coordinated dozens of tutors to support peers across subjects, organized more than 50 local volunteers, and led a wide range of student organizations, from Spanish and diversity groups to math and finance clubs. He also founded a free youth investing initiative and has engaged in civic action, including efforts to address gun violence through bipartisan dialogue.
As the 2026 recipient of the Don’t Drive Drowsy Scholarship, Quinton is honored to support a mission that resonates with his own experience. After long seasons balancing AP coursework, research, athletics, and travel, he has seen firsthand how easily fatigue can become dangerous behind the wheel. The foundation’s work aligns with his belief that awareness and prevention save lives. A state‐level runner and nationally ranked barebow archer, Quinton will study Finance and Materials Science at the University of Pennsylvania’s Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology this fall.
